Deputy Director of China Geological Survey (CGS) Dr  Wang Xiaolie, met with the delegation of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) headed by Mr Pio Wennubst, Assistant Director General of SDC in CGS headquarter. A  MOU was signed by both sides for cooperation on geological environment and climate change and an agreement for groundwater overexploitation control and management strategy project. Mr. Philippe Zahner, Counselor of Swiss Embassy to China, Dean of Chinese Affairs Office of SDC, was present at the bilateral meeting.

Wang made an introduction of the basic information about CGS. He said that the geological survey institutions of the two countries had made highly effective cooperation in the fields of soil salinization, aquifer storage and utilization, sustainable development of groundwater resources, etc. The above cooperation plays a positive role in improving professional skills and conducting capability building of CGS. Wang put forward with three proposals: first, to establish a joint working group to advance the implementation of bilateral international cooperation projects; second, to deepen the technological cooperation in the fields of hydrogeology and environmental geology; third, to enhance capability building and talent cultivation. Mr Pio Wennubst completely agreed with Dr. Wang Xiaolie and expected both sides to strengthen pragmatic cooperation to make greater contribution to the security and sustainable utilization of water resources.
